Draft Settlement Hierarchy
The event is not currently available for consultation.
As part of the Core Strategy Development Plan Document (DPD) and the Waverley Local Development Framework (LDF) the Council is proposing to introduce a new settlement hierarchy. This document sits within the Town and Country Topic Paper.
One of the primary aims of establishing a settlement hierarchy is to promote sustainable communities by bringing housing, employment opportunities and services closer together in an attempt to reduce the need for travel, particularly by private vehicle. The settlement hierarchy will help to achieve this by providing a framework which will feed into the Core Strategy for the broad distribution of new housing and other forms of development towards those settlements that have a good range of services and employment opportunities, and restricting it in those that do not.
In this first draft of the settlement hierarchy for Waverley, the focus has been on the analysis of the services and community facilities that each settlement has. These are not the only determining factor used to direct future development, as a number of environmental issues must also be considered and and built into the final hierarchy.
In Section 5 of the document are summaries of the services and facilities of the currently identified settlements. Some are not yet complete, and are awaiting the input from the relevant Town or Parish Council. We asked if there are any that have been missed, and have the right ones been identified, and also whether the right settlements have been included.
You can download this document in its entirety, but be warned that this amounts to over 150 pages. Alternatively you can just download the sections that you are interested in.
The next stage of this document is to consider and investigate, and if appropriate, incorporate the comments that have been made in response to the consultation. We will also be adding in the environmental and access considerations, and if necessary revising the Hierarchy.
This next draft of the document will be available on the Consultation Portal for further
consultation in the Autumn of this year.
If you are registered with Limehouse you will automatically receive an email notifying you of this next consultation. If you wish to be included, but are not yet registered, please go to http://consult.waverley.gov.uk/common/register.jsp
