Draft Residential Extensions SPD

Originally produced as supplementary planning guidance in 2002, the Residential Extensions Design Guidelines has been used extensively by applicants, their architects, agents and planning officers to inform householder planning applications (for extensions and alterations to houses).

It has been considered to be timely to update the document and review its content in an attempt to reflect current design thinking and provide a clear framework against which applications can be assessed.  Therefore Waverley has produced the draft Residential Extensions Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) for consultation purposes, with the aim that it will be adopted as part of the Local Development Framework in the autumn of 2010.

The consultation is open to anyone who has an interest in residential extensions or alterations and it runs from 19 February 2010 to 1 April 2010.

Further details of the consultation, including where the document can be inspected can be found in the SPD Matters (www.waverley.gov.uk/residentialextensions).

All consultation comments received within the above timeframe will be summarised in a statement, reported to the Council and made available for inspection (with phone numbers, email addresses and signatures deleted).  Following the consultation period, Waverley will consider the responses and amend the draft SPD as necessary.  The document will then follow the formal committee process before it is adopted as a SPD and becomes a material consideration in the determination of relevant planning applications.
